With so many exciting weapons to choose from in Horizon Forbidden West, players will want to know which weapons are best to acquire.

Horizon Forbidden West released on February 18, 2022, much to the excitement of fans who were eagerly waiting to see what was changed and added to the series. The only real downside to the sequel was that wasn't any news of a PC port being planned, whereas its predecessor Horizon Zero Dawn has made its way to PC markets. Console-free gamers will have to wait and keep their fingers crossed.

There are several creative weapon types available for players to choose from in Horizon Forbidden West. These include, but aren't limited to: spike throwers, sharpshooter bows, and shredder gauntlets. With such a wide variety to choose from, it makes sense players would want to know what their most powerful options are right away.

The Prototype Spike Thrower is a powerful weapon that can be unlocked fairly early on in the story. After players complete the main quest "To The Brink" and complete an errand in Chainscrape, they'll have access to this weapon.

The Prototype Spike Thrower comes with a bit of a charge-up time, but with its ability to pierce through armor, the trade-off is well worth it. Not only that, but the Prototype Spike Thrower explodes shortly after sticking to its intended target, dealing extra damage.

For players who want to dish out a ton of fire damage, it's hard to find a better choice than Carja's Bane. Obtaining it is no easy task, however, as players will have to complete all four Gauntlet Runs if they wish to wield it.

Carja's Bane is one of the most time-consuming weapons to seek after in the entire game, but it's also one of the best weapons for dishing out close-quarters damage. On top of everything else, it's even able to pierce armor — making it a good choice in almost any situation.

Death-Seeker's Shadow is another bow that excels in shredding enemy armor. However, it's another bow that takes time and dedication to unlock, as players will have to both unlock the Arena and win a total of eighty medals before they can trade them in for this powerhouse.

Death-Seeker's Shadow is well worth it in the end, however, as this bow boasts nearly unmatched fire speed and is even capable of dealing Electric damage to enemies as well. It comes with a total of five coil slots, enabling players to upgrade it and make it that much stronger.

The Sun Scourge is another incredibly powerful bow, and is going to take some work to unlock. In order to get their hands on this bow, players will have to conquer all five of the Rebel Camps present within Horizon Forbidden West's world.

Acquiring the Sun Scourge will be well worth the effort players have to put in. Sun Scourge has a quick draw time which significantly helps players take down fast-moving targets. Where the Sun Scourge truly shines is in its three different elemental arrow types — having access to fire, ice, and poison.

The Wings Of The Ten is a powerful Blastling, a type of slingshot available to players. Players will first need to ensure that they have the Vine Cutter and Diving Masks, before proceeding to collect the twelve Black Box voice recordings which are necessary in order to obtain this weapon.

Like many other weapons throughout Horizon Forbidden West, acquiring the Wings Of The Ten is a bit of a time sink, but one that provides valuable rewards in the long-run. The Wings Of The Ten uses explosive rounds that have the ability to immobilize one's opponents, rendering them unable to act and making them easier to take out afterwards.

The Tinker's Pride is part of the Tripcaster subclass of weapons, a group of weapons designed around ensnaring one's enemies and making them easier to take down. In order to obtain it, players will need to achieve the maximum amount of points possible in all the Hunting Ground trials.

For players who like setting up traps and watching their patience be rewarded, there's no better choice. Using the Tinker's Pride, players can set up wired explosive traps that go off whenever they're stepped on by an enemy. The weapon also comes with three different types for dealing with various enemies.

The Forgefall is an incredibly strong Sharpshot bow that's well worth the grind players must go through in order to secure it. Much like the Death-Seeker's Shadow, players will need to acquire and trade in eighty arena medals in order to acquire it.

The cost involved for the Forgefall is worth it — especially for a bow considered one of the best long-range weapons in the entire game. Not only can the Forgefall deal blasts of Plasma damage, but it also has armor-penetrating arrows. The two can be combined for an extra burst of power against almost any enemy.

The Skykiller is similar to the Prototype Spike Thrower, but this particular spike thrower has a few features which put it ahead of the competition. It can be obtained by completing a side quest called "The Way Home." The only downside is that this quest doesn't unlock until players have almost beaten the game.

The Skykiller is still certainly worth picking up, as its damage output alone makes it a spike thrower worth using. In addition, not only does it have access to the classic spikes, but the Skykiller can also throw Explosive and Flaming projectiles.

The Ancestor's Return is the only Shredder Gauntlet weapon to find itself among Horizon Forbidden West's best weapons. Not only is it the most powerful out of its subclass, but one of the most powerful weapons in the game. In order to obtain it, players will need to obtain nine different ornaments which can be found during Relic Runs.

Not only is the Ancestor's Return powerful, but it's incredibly fun to use. After this weapon successfully hits an enemy, players will need to catch it as it rebounds, which will enable their next throw to deal even more damage. This bonus is stackable as well.

If players simply want to know what the single best weapon in all of Horizon Forbidden West is, they won't have to look any further than the Blast Forge. Similar to other weapons, players will have to trade in eighty hard-earned arena medals if they want to get their hands on it.

That price is a steal of a trade for a weapon players can count on in virtually any situation. The Blast Forge excels at piercing armor, and comes with not one, but three different types of rounds to help it accomplish this task. Its natural perks include draw speed and critical hit chance, further increasing its power.
